Your SoHE Career Advisors are still available for career-related questions and appointments while campus is closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please continue to schedule regular and drop-in appointments using the online Starfish tool in your MyUW portal or by emailing your advisor directly. The Student Academic Affairs and Career Development office will resume in-person appointments when campus re-opens for regular operations. Please see emails from your advisor and/or Office of Undergraduate Advising for further details.

Here is how you can connect with us for the remainder of the 2019-2020 academic year:

Microsoft Teams video appointments: Schedule virtual appointments with your academic or career advisor online via Starfish. Microsoft Teams is the preferred campus method for video advising appointments. You do not have to download special software in order to use Teams. Once you have scheduled an appointment via Starfish, your advisor will send you a link and directions to access the meeting online before your appointment.

Phone: You may also schedule telephone appointments online via Starfish, in lieu of video appointments. Please provide the preferred phone number for your advisor to call at the appointment time in the notes section when you schedule your appointment.

Email: We are happy to communicate with you via email as well. Please try to include all questions in one email and be as specific as possible prior to sending in order for us to best assist you.

Drop-ins: Career advising drop-ins to discuss resumes, cover letters, using Handshake, interview prep, and other general career related questions, will also be available Wednesdays 10AM-Noon and Thursdays 1-3PM Central Time. Drop-in appointments are generally 10-15 minutes, and will also occur via Microsoft Teams or by phone. To “attend” drop-in advising, you can schedule a “walk-in” appointment via Starfish. On Wednesdays, please schedule career advising drop-in appointments with Madeline Braun, our Career Development Intern. On Thursdays, schedule with Hannah Hatlan-Atwell, Career Advisor.

For more complex career related conversations, including graduate/professional school planning and preparation, please schedule a regular 30-minute career advising appointment with your assigned career advisor:

If you would like a resume or cover letter reviewed, please email your documents to careers@advising.wisc.edu instead of to your assigned career advisor. You will receive an electronic review within 24-48 hours
