Career Development

Students with Jobs and InternshipsHere at SoHE, we have the resources to help you reach your academic and career goals. Whether you’re looking to land an internship-for-credit or are searching for your first full-time job, we recommend you start by meeting with a SoHE Career Advisor to help with planning:

  • Career exploration
  • Job search tools and strategies
  • Resume and cover letter development
  • Interview prep
  • Graduate school application process
  • And, more!

Your SoHE Career Advisors are still available for career-related questions and appointments while campus is closed during the COVID-19 pandemic. Please continue to schedule regular appointments using the online Starfish tool in your MyUW portal or by emailing your advisor directly. The Student Academic Affairs and Career Development Office will resume in-person appointments when campus resumes regular operations. Please see emails from your advisor and/or Office of Undergraduate Advising for further details.

Here is how you can connect with us this summer:

Video Chat: Schedule virtual appointments with your career advisor online via Starfish. Microsoft Teams is the preferred campus method for video advising appointments. You do not have to download special software in order to use Teams. Once you have scheduled an appointment via Starfish, your advisor will send you a link with directions toALICIA HAZEN advising students access the meeting online before your appointment.

Phone: You may also schedule telephone appointments online via Starfish, in lieu of video. Please provide the preferred phone number for your advisor to reach you at your appointment time in the notes section when you schedule your appointment.

Email: We are happy to communicate with you via email as well. Please try to include all of your questions in one email and be as specific as possible prior to sending in order for us to best assist you.

Please schedule career advising appointments with your assigned career advisor as noted below:

If you would like a resume or cover letter reviewed, please email your documents to careers@advising.wisc.edu instead of to your assigned career advisor. You will receive an electronic review within 24-48 hours.
