How to apply

Prospective High School Students or College Transfer Students

All prospective students applying to UW-Madison must do so through the central Office of Admissions and Recruitment.

Improve your chances of being accepted to UW-Madison
  1. Be sure to indicate your interest in a specific SoHE major as your first choice on your application
  2. Clearly articulate how your personal and professional interests relate to that major
  3. Ensure all required documents are submitted in a timely manner (i.e., transcripts and application essays)

Textile and Fashion Design applicants may also submit an optional Design Studies Portfolio to show off your creative and artistic talents for additional consideration for admission to UW-Madison.

Already Admitted to UW-Madison

You can also indicate your interest in a SoHE major when registering for SOAR (Student Orientation, Advising and Registration) or while attending SOAR.

Current UW-Madison First Year or First Semester Transfer Students

SoHE welcomes all First Year students and First Semester Transfer students to declare a SoHE major without completing the SoHE Major Application. Attend a Becoming a SoHE Student (BASS) Workshops, speak with your academic advisor, or schedule an appointment with a SoHE Academic Advisor if you have any questions.

Ready to declare a SoHE Major

Complete the SoHE Major Declaration form today!

Minimal requirement is a 2.000 Cumulative GPA or higher

Current UW-Madison Upper-level Student

SoHE invites all continuing upper-level students (Sophomore and higher) to apply to a SoHE Major. Attend a Becoming a SoHE Student (BASS) Workshops, speak with your academic advisor, or schedule an appointment with a SoHE Academic Advisor if you have any questions.
