This is your world. Shape it or someone else will.
Believe it or not, I didn’t always know I wanted to be a Career Advisor. A bit ironic for someone who now helps individuals figure out their own career paths, right? Thankfully, after having amazing experiences and developing trusting relationships with my undergraduate career and academic advisors, it didn’t take long for me to realize that this was the type of position I could see myself in and enjoy.
I have been involved in career and academic advising for nearly 10 years, and in the School of Human Ecology, I wear many hats as it relates to helping students. I provide career advising for Human Development & Family Studies (HDFS) and Community & Nonprofit Leadership (CNPL) students, and I serve as the Internship Coordinator for the entire school. Beyond advising, I manage our online career database called Handshake, coordinate the scholarship processes within the school, and participate in a variety of school and campus-wide career initiatives.
My favorite part of the job is witnessing students experience their ‘aha’ moments as it relates to their personal and professional goals. College is such a wonderful place for students to learn, explore, and grow, and I love being a part of that process!
