What the best and wisest parent wants for his child, that must we want for all children of the community.

– John Dewey

Working with children, families and the environments in which they live has been the focus of my professional life.  This context inspires me to look at the whole child and understand how richly the many aspects of life affect us.  My work at the Child Development Lab has deepened my understanding of children and their learning.  Helping children learn to inquire and make discoveries is very rewarding for me as a teacher, and I feel lucky to be a part of a team that celebrates inquiry based learning.  I also feel lucky to work for the School of Human Ecology.  The vision that our impact be locally relevant and globally prominent makes our work at SoHE both significant and far reaching.

A lover of the outdoors, I am an avid hiker and nature seeker. My favorite weekend activity is hiking at Devil’s Lake or Parfrey’s Glen State Park with my husband and our two children. I also enjoy reading, travel, yoga, and playing with my two cats.
