Latino Students Pave Way for College
Over the past weekend, UW-Madison, SoHE Assistant Professor Carolina Sarmiento and local communities came together for a two-day “On My Way to College” event offering sessions for over 80 Latino middle school students to gain knowledge about their exploration of college.
Associate Professor Awarded UW2020 WARF Discovery Initiative Award
In aspirations to open new avenues for innovation and significant research, the UW2020 Warf Discovery Initiative Awards were offered to 21 funded projects at for the upcoming years. Here at SoHE, HDFS Associate Professor Janean Dilworth Bart was offered support for her early childhood research project “Create“. Take a look at the award winners and their research projects here.

New Paper Out – Poehlmann-Tynan & Three Alums
Congratulations Professor Poehlmann-Tynan on their just released paper, May 2017: Attachment in young children with incarcerated fathers. This is “one of the only studies to measure attachment in children with incarcerated fathers” states Poehlmann-Tynan. And 3 recent SoHE Ph.D. grads are co-authors: Cynthia Burnson, Hilary Runion and Lindsay A. Weymouth – congrats to all!
