SoHE is proud to welcome Sherry Harlacher as Director: Helen Louise Allen Textile Collection, Ruth Davis Design Gallery and Ruth Ketterer Harris Library. She will begin her role on Monday, March 10, 2015.
In 2010 Sherry earned a Ph.D. from Arizona State University in History and Theory of Art, with a special focus on Asian material culture. She began her museum work in 2001 as Curatorial Assistant for Asian art at Phoenix Art Museum. Most recently she has served as director and chief curator at Denison Museum, Denison University, a private liberal arts college outside of Columbus Ohio. Her most recent exhibition Dressing Difference: Exploring Burma’s Ethnicities focused on how collecting and exhibiting the dress of those who are “different” from us is a form of ethnographic storytelling.
Sherry’s travels and research in Asia have taken her to Burma, China, India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and Tibet.
