CANCELLED: The Mindful Schools, Families, and Communities Conference
The Contemplative Practices Conference Series is a joint effort by the Centers for Child and Family Well-Being at the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the University of Washington. Every other year, each Center takes a turn at hosting a conference to gather together researchers and practitioners whose work promotes the well-being of children and families through mindfulness.
3/12/20: Both the University of Wisconsin—Madison and the University of Washington have switched to online instruction, cancelling in-person gatherings for all or part of the current term, in response to the unfolding public health situation related to the virus causing COVID-19. We are mindful of the need to enact “social distancing” measures to reduce risk (#flattenthecurve). Thus, we have made the decision to cancel the Center for Child & Family Well-Being (CCFW) Mindful Schools, Families, and Communities conference scheduled for May 15-16, 2020 in Madison, Wisconsin.
Conference Registration: UW—Madison will be refunding all registration costs to those who registered for the conference.
Flights and other Travel Arrangements should be canceled directly.
Future Plans: We are exploring avenues for future online/virtual offerings from our scheduled speakers as well as looking into a possible collaboration with The Mind & Life 2020 Contemplative Research Conference (November 2020 in Madison, WI).
Resources for Communicating with Children about COVID-19: The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends this resource for parents/caregivers of children and this comic provides a way to talk with children about coronavirus.
Please email email@example.com with any questions or concerns related to the conference cancellation.
We wish you, your families, and your communities well during this time.
