How to Meet with an Advisor

  • Current SoHE students can either schedule an appointment or attend Drop-In Advising. Prospective students have separate options for meeting with an advisor.
  • For career advising, schedule an appointment with one of our career advisors.

Drop-In Hours for Current SoHE Students

  • Regular drop-in advising is available Wednesday 10:00 am – 12:00 pm and Thursday 1:00 – 3:00 pm
  • Additional times added for April: Tuesday, April 16th and Tuesday, April 23rd, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm
  • Check in at the front desk outside of Room 1194 Nancy Nicholas Hall (Take a right upon main entry to the building. We are located under the Fetzer Center for Student Excellence.)
  • Drop-in meetings are 10-15 minutes
  • No appointment is required and students are helped on a first-come, first-served basis

Prospective SoHE Students

  • Students exploring SoHE majors must complete a Becoming a SoHE Student (BASS) workshop
  • BASS covers SoHE curriculum requirements, what makes Human Ecology unique, career options, and how to apply to or declare a SoHE major
  • Students will work with academic advisors to review DARS reports/curriculum checksheets and will receive group advising

  • Schedule online through Starfish. You can find Starfish in your MyUW portal (just search the word “starfish”) and follow instructions here or call the front desk at 608-262-2608

  • Appointments take place during regular office hours: Monday through Friday, 9:00-4:00 p.m.
