Title/Department: Consumer Behavior and Family Economics
My overall scholarship interest lies in two areas: What are the psychological processes behind trendy consumption behaviors? How can we alter consumer behaviors towards rational expectations that are socially beneficial?
Following this line of inquiry, I have studied whether voting rules in a trust game improves cooperation; I have modeled the relationship between frugality and consumer innovativeness with a multinational survey; and I am collaborating on a project seeking the motivations behind virtual make-over use in selfies. My dissertation focuses on how to better present environment-related information to shape sustainable consumption behavior.
I currently serve as the manager of the Behavioral Research Insights Through Experiments (BRITE) Lab. I am glad to work with many other researchers who apply experimental methods to address their important research questions.
