Associate UW-Madison Professor Karma Chávez will discuss her book Queer Migration Politics (University of Illinois Press, 2013) and will explain how recent debates over the US-Mexico border, Central American child refugees, and immigration reform can and should be understood from a queer person of color point of view. This talk will examine the relationships between capitalism, borders (gender, sexual, racial and national) and power.
