Internships

Benefits of an internship

Many students describe their internship as their best learning experience at the University of Wisconsin at Madison. Students report gaining: KNOWLEDGE of how to apply what they have learned in their classes in the field, UNDERSTANDING of their professional strengths and weaknesses, INSIGHT into careers they are most suited to, AWARENESS of how to achieve their career goals, and EXPERIENCE needed to qualify for future jobs and to enhance graduate school applications and a higher comfort level in professional environments.

The Interdisciplinary Studies Internship Program develops relationships with internship sites, helps students find internships, and enhances the internship through learning experiences such as writing assignments and meetings. The internship coordinator is available throughout the internship to answer questions and address challenges that may arise.
