Inter-HE 111 Alcohol: Behavior, Culture, and Science (cross-listed with L&S), 3 credits. Open to first semester freshmen only. Provides a multidisciplinary exploration of alcohol use. Includes analysis of the chemical properties of ethanol, pharmacological, and psychogical effects, portrayals of alcohol in literature and media, historical and cultural differences, the nature and treament of dependent drinking, and social policy.

Inter-HE 150 Critical Perspectives in Human Ecology, 3 credits. Nature of interdisciplinary study of human ecology, the inter-related economics, familial, and environmental contexts of individuals and communities; analysis of the critical perspectives offered by its various disciplines and sub-disciplines. Requires 2 hours of service learning.

Inter-HE 330 Practicum in Family and Consumer Education (cross-listed with C&I), 2 credits. Systematic observation and involvement in family and consumer education instruction.

Inter-HE 350 Community Issues and Service Learning, 3 credits. Academic and community-based explorations of selected issues faced by contemporary families and consumer, approached from human ecological perspectives. Requires 25 hours of fieldwork in community settings in addition to class sessions.

Inter-HE 360 Leadership Dynamics in Community Building, 2 credits. Explores community building and community action strategies in the context of renewing fragmented connections in today's localities. Considers the evolving nature and importance of community leadership and develops key leadership methods and skills. Requires 5 hours of service learning.

Inter-HE 375 Special Topics, 1-4 credits. Specialized subject matter of current interest to undergraduate students.

Inter-HE 399 Coordinative Internship/Cooperative Education, 1-8 credits. Consent of advisor and internship program coordinator required.

Inter-HE 427 Methods of Teaching Family and Consumer Education (cross-listed with C&I), 3 credits. Theory and principles of teaching and learning in family and consumer education.

Inter-HE 428 Program Planning in Family and Consumer Education (cross-listed with C&I), 3 credits. Theory and processes of program planning and informal educational settings; relation of vocational education to secondary, adult, and continuing education programs. Inter-HE 430 Student Teaching in Family and Consumer Education (cross-listed with C&I), 12 credits. Supervised student teaching at the middle and high school levels. Advanced registration in student teaching office and Education 109 required.

Inter-HE 450 Senior Seminar in Human Ecology, 3 credits. Senior seminar which applies interdisciplinary, human ecological perspectives to the development of community-based research or creative projects related to families and/or consumers. Requires 25 hours of fieldwork outside of class.

Inter-HE 473 The History of Motherhood in America (cross-listed with HDFS & CnsrSci), 3 credits. A survey of the biological, social, and cultural aspects of motherhood and mothering from the colonial period to the late twentieth century.

Inter-HE 515 Principles of Adult Education, 3 credits. Explores the theory and research of adult education which underlies program planning, adult development and learning, and evaluation and the application of the related principles and concepts to the actual practice of adult education in diverse settings with diverse audiences.

Inter-HE 661 Organization & Operation of Education for Work, 3 credits. Procedures, policies and research associated with various systems of work-related education. Inter-HE 705 Community Building, Action, and Learning: Leadership Dynamics, 2 Credits, Examines community building and collaborative action in the context of efforts to renew community connections in today?s fragmented localities. Gives special emphasis to leadership roles and dynamics and especially shared leadership. Applies a model of the learning community to these challenges. Crosslisted with ELPA, UrRP

Inter-HE 793 Research Methods, 3 credits. Basic techniques: questionnaires, interviews, behavioral observation, sampling, experimental designs, and data analysis using computer. Students learn to write a research proposal with literature review.
