Financial Aid
Graduate fellowships and scholarships are offered to incoming students based on academic merit. Teaching, research, and project assistantships are available to qualified students on a competitive basis. Selection is based on thee applicant's scholarly promise and ability to perform the required duties. Advanced Opportunity Fellowships are available for students of color and educationally disadvantaged nonminority students at any stage of graduate study. University fellowship holders and assistantship holders (with a 33 1/3 percent or more award) also receive remission of all tuition and comprehensive insurance coverage. Funds to support graduate student research are available through the School of Human Ecology and the Graduate School.
Financial Assistance
*To qualify for financial aid, applications must be submitted by January 10.
UW Financial Aid: Contact the Office of Student Financial Services, 432 N. Murray St., 262-3060. Programs administered through this office include: National Direct Student Loan, Guaranteed Student Loan, and Work Study positions on campus.
UW Graduate School Aid: The Graduate School offers a variety of fellowships, for a range of purposes and disciplines and with various restrictions. School and Department Aid: A limited number of Fellowships and Teaching, Project, and Research Assistantships are available through the department. Project and Research Assistantship positions are supported by individual faculty members' research grants. Applicants should indicate their wish to be considered for support on their application. Eligibility for some forms of aid is restricted to U.S. citizens or permanent residents. Be sure to clarify your visa/residence status when inquiring.
